Fuel. Do a search. Or buy a catchers mitt.[roll] [duhhh]
|
Like he said Fuel, fuel knock. Injector might be over fueling or computer is bugged.

Try some good quality diesel additive like Stanadyne. Use Power Service if you can't find anything else, it's better than nothing. Give it a try.
Also make sure you don't have a Fram oil filter on there  Good luck Vaughn |
could it be bad fuel . would that cause a knock?
|
YES

FIRST DOES IT DO IT ALL THE TIME, OR JUST AT IDLE. IF AT IDLE #5 CYLINDER IS INSTALLED 180 DEGRESS BACKWARDS AND IS HITTING A OIL COLLING NOZZLE JET THATS THE PROBLEM WITH MINE. GOOD LUCK..[eyecrazy]

cummins24v when you type in caps it is like yelling. Please stop yelling. Thank you.
Do you know how many (if any) of these pistons were assembled incorrectly?? |
I'm sorry I don't believe the post by "cummins24v"! If that was the case the piston would smack that jet and it would never make any noise again! Also Cummins would not make a mistake of that nature... if they did there would be a TSB!

GOOD LUCK..[eyecrazy] I've gotta believe you made sure you hid all the pulling trophy's, window stickers and restored the engine compartment as best you could after pulling out all the aftermarket power adders? If not, it may help to leave a Lawrence Welk CD laying on the seat when the service manager looks at it. And for the orig poster, yeah I'd try some different fuel and/or add some fuel treatment before doing anything else. |
yep it was fuel boys.. drained the tank and new filter and then i quitened down after a tank of fuel.

Glad you're quiete down there Mikal!
Sawboy there have been several cases of reversed pistons on the HO motors (SOs are not affected due to not having gallery cooling, only piston spray). The jets do not get broken off, the piston just taps them, doesn't really do damage but not good for it either. A couple of guys have gotten new short blocks under warranty, no labor charge. Vaughn |
Originally posted by spots You don't know how true this is. One of the first things I would do is turn the radio on and see what the people listened to. You could almost tell by that how much $$ they had and how hard they were on the vehicle.[laugh] [laugh] [laugh] :D |
