Klunking Sound When Shifting
Klunking Sound When Shifting
I've had this klunking sound ever since the truck was new. The truck is an automatic and whenever it was shifting into OD I would get this sound. But only when my road speed was to slow. I have changed transmissions since new and it still does the same thing. So now I'm thinking its something with the transfer case. If my road speed was fast there would be no klunking sound when shifting into OD. I've noticed this sound when pulling my 11000lb trailer, if the road speed was to slow there would be a sound, then I would shift into a lower gear and all would be well....any ideas?
I am not sure what the clunk is, but I can tell you I have an 06 auto that has clunked since new also, except mine is from 2-3. It is also when I am at a very slow acceleration. I live in a small neighborhood so that is when it happens mostly creeping from one stop sign to the next, but when on normal roads with normal acceleration, nothing. It drives me nuts, but I have been told it is just a "hard" shift because of the pressure, but I personally really don't have a clue, wish I could get rid of it though!
Yeah it can really start rattling when pulling and in OD with the road speed to slow, at least it sounds like something not to critical....
