Key off battery draw.. again?

Thank you for the responses on my thread yesterday.. No fix yet. I have since pulled ALL the fuses out of the fusebox (at the same time) and still have a 4.86 amp draw thru the hot leg feeding the underhood fusebox. This leg must feed another circuit not protected by a fuse in this panel. I have also checked the grid heater relay, it is not closed. Does anyone have any idea what will draw this kind of amperage continuously?

remove the lead going to the alternator, there is six diodes in it if one of them is leaky it will cause the symptoms you have

get a key chain compass, hold it on the wiring harnesses the one the needle lines up with is the culprit next open up the harness and check individual wires

I did disconnect alt. lead.. Still had draw. Thanks. I think altenator lead is fed directly from pass. side batt. thru fusible link. My draw is from drivers side batt. in lead to fuse box, leading me to believe draw was in a circuit fused in this panel, but pulling all the fuses kind of disputes this theory. I am at a loss.

Which harness are you speaking of with the compass trick?

Are your batteries dying on you when left for a period of time. How long?

hold the compass over each wire or harness on the fuse box. the compass will line up with two of them the red one that you have the disconnect on and the one the draw is on. follow the draw one to see what it feeds

I looked into grid heaters. They are fed from pass. side battery thru a fusible link and relay. (And the relay is open). My draw is on the lead from the drivers battery feeding the fusebox. Thanks anyway.

What kind of meter are you using? Clamp on or inline?
