Jump starting

Have not ran into the problem yet, just got to thinking about what would need to be done to jump start your CTD if the need arises.

From the donor vehicle, would you hook the cables up to the drivers side or passenger side battery?

Thanks,
Rick

I just read the shop manual and it doesn't specify.

It seems to me that there is sticker on the fender stating which to use. At least there was one on my 97, not 100% on the 03 though. If no stickers i would think to use the drivers side.

The shorter the distance to the starter the more cranking amps you'll have. DC amps drops off fast though the battery cables. Thats why you should have a good set of jumpers also. It is a small amount of loss, but a loss none the less. I'd use the driver's side battery, and let the jumper cables sit for 5-10 mins. with the second vehicle running (to charge the dead batteries) before attempting to start.

If jumping a vehicle from the CDT I'd use the passenger side battery.
