injectors

Can anyone tell me what injectors cost for the common rail diesels? (approximate cost anyways)

Then again, what's the diff between 3600 and 4800?

Ridiculous either way.

Yeah, that seems absolutely ridiculous to me. I sure hope the price on these goes down. It almost costs as much to replace the injectors as it does to get a whole new engine.

to replace the engine is at a MINUMUM of $10K.

I think you are missing the point that was trying to be made. We all know that a replacement engine can't be purchased for $3600.00. (although I would argue that the MINIMUM is not $10K - but it depends on where you buy it and warranties ect) I think the point Cummins2 was trying to make is that is seems that the cost of the injectors relative to the cost of the entire engine is a little off base. It is hard to believe (at least for me) that 6 small injectors cost over $3000.00 when the entire engine is sold for (to keep things round) $10K. There may be licensing fees or something of that nature that drive up the cost... I don't know. But I also agree that they seem way over priced relative to the cost of the entire engine.

The injectors are way more complicated than the CP3 pump.

The CP3 is actually far simpler than a Vp44

The VP44 did all the fueling control. The CP3 just pressurizes the rail and the injectors actually do all the control.

intresting that you mention the #1 injector line rattle/knock. I also have some bummed injectors and waiting to have them repaired. Keep us informed of what is going on. If i here anything on mine i will post.
