Inframe overhaul???

Inframe overhaul???

I have a freind with a problem, smokes blue, uses enough oil, runs really quite and smooth, he installed a new turbo but it did not change anything. I am suspecting rings,,Can these engines be worked on in frame, it is an 03 with 4x4.

I don't think the pan can be removed easily. May require trans removal, but don't quote me. Some one else who knows more will chime in shortly

If your not going to pull the motor, you can remove the crossmember(sawing off) below the pan, then you should be able pull the pan. After rebuilding my motor, my mechanic had to go back in using this method to fix a ring that wouldn't seat. After your done make sure you weld the crossmember back in place.

You have to either remove the cross member or jack the engine up to get the pan off.

pulled the pan off my 03 4x4 by raising the motor didnt have to remove tranny. had to do it to hone the #4 cylinder when a valve dropped was kinda a pain
