Idle Surge

I have noticed here lately when I start my truck I get a quick little surge in rpm, this will only happen if the engine is cold. Has anyone else see this before

Me too

Mine has been doing it lately also, I think it has something to do with the cold.

Mine does it but only when I have the Quad box turned on. It only does it once then all is fine so I haven't worried about it. Maybe Quad has seen this before and can shed some light on it.....

My son's 03 has been dpoing it at cold idle as well. It surges infrequently at cold idle, then stops when you drive away, and does not do it at warmer idle.

Hunting

Is it actually hunting at idle? Could be a bad tone ring signal, or pick up!?!? Take it in, if you trust the diesel guy at the dealership.

if it surges up and stays there until you tap the gas peddal then that's normal (cold idle)
you might also experience the voltage drop in cold temps..

Neither of the above on mine, it almost sounds like it is missing. (Only on cold idle- power is good.)
