Question I need help on 2

This my first problems on 03/3500 srw

1) When I take off sometimes not all mostly when the truck is in a bind, up hill, towing etc. The rear end seems shake the truck for about 5 ft. I did take it to the dealer they could not make it do it so they can't fix it..which is normal since it does not do it all the time..My question is do add additive to the rear end, dealer that rear end doesn't use it. Also does anyone else have this problem and maybe a solution..

2) When I went to change my fuel filter for the first time the drian valve when open drains very slow I work it back and forth to make wasn't a vaccum problem, even open the top on the canister still very slow any suggestions on this..

Thanks In Advance, Larry

There is a tsb for the fuel filter. Grease plugging the drain.
Mine also does the shudder thing. Worse after a hot highway drive. I was told it was the AAM rear end. No additives are required.

Your DEALER will have to perform the TSB(TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN) on the fuel filter. I might would try some of the anti-friction fluid in the rearend to see if that helped. You sure know when you need to change it in one of the older DANA REARS. They will RATCHET around corners. Is that what yours is doing? You might better make sure the ANTI-FRICTION fluid is compatible with the SYNTHETIC gear oil that you probably have.

Thanks for your help, I did a search on TSB and saw that about the fuel filter..Made appt. with dealer he said no problem...

The rear end I decided to let it be I have 27k mile on it and the warranty is good til 70k.

Mine is doing the way spot is, I think I will leave the additive out..

This part on the rear end and the money WE all spend on these seems like DC would look in to them, but this isn't the only issue with DC.. Thanks Larry

Is it clutch chatter?
Or is it fron a wrong driveline angle?
I'd check the pinion to driveshaft angle difference. Do this at both ends of the shaft.
You don't want it at zero or over 7-8 degrees.

Reference letting the rear end go for now. Keep after the dealer on it to build a case in the event it fails right after the warranty runs out. Keep all the paperwork and anything else you can get on the complaints about what the rear end is doing. As J-Fox suggested get the driveline angle checked by the dealer and add that to the paperwork. The reason for this is my dad bought a 90 CTD and the transmission gave him some problems and the dealer told him that it was normal and not to worry about it. Took it in a couple more times and got the same excuse. About 1000 miles out of warranty the transmission went out, this was a 5 speed. Needless to say the dealer couldn't find any record of a problem being reported.

lab, Is your truck automagic or a handshaker? Mine has a launch shudder is that what you feel every time you take off? Mine is a automagic, took it to (2) dealerships they say DC knows about it, thats what they said anyway they also said they did not know the cure for the shudder they felt it but did not know how to fix it. I told them about driveline angle they checked it and said it was within spec with the DC guidelines. Can't find nobody that has a brain to think for themselves anymore at dealerships they rely on what the computer says and that is what they do.

There are no clutches in the LSD on the 10.5" or 11.5" AAM rears, so friction modifier isn't going to do a thing.

As for the launch shudder, if it's coming from the driveshaft, this can sometimes be corrected by putting in a spacer (between 1/4" and 1/2") above the carrier bearing, thereby lowering the carrier bearing slightly. Your dealer should know about this fix. If not, you can try explaining this to your dealer.

It is a 6 speed and I will make one more attempt to explain this to the dealer.......But has he said before if it doesn't do it we can fix it..By d*** we will ride til it does it and it is 40 mile trip to the dealer so the rear end or carrier bearing should be good and hot when I get there...
