How hard is it to rebuild an NV273?
I was comming back from a road trip, and i noticed the truck would have a vibration whenever decellerating. It is especially noticable when at about 100km/h. When i pull my foot off the throttle, itll shake for a second or longer. It also has a big metalic "CLUNK" when i put her in drive, or switch between drive and reverse. Definately coming from the t-case. On top of that, when I put her in park, on a hill, it will roll back a foot before stopping. the rear seal is broken on the t-case, which is obvious by the red fluid spraying in a nice line across the bottom, but its still full of fluid. Wierd. Oh, and the breather tube is disconnected for some reason.
In any case, I got it fixed eight months ago. waranty on the thing expired after six. ****. they said the chain was steched four sizes too large. 1500 bucks, and a total rebuild later i was back on the road. so how hard is it to get in there and replace the chain and the seal? Maybe the bearings too? im pretty well equiped, but are there any special tools required? do i need a press? Can it be done on the vehicle?

You have other problems if the work was done and you need another rebuild after 8 months. You need to inspect the whole driveline and find another shop if you don't trust their work.
