Some good info in this thread.
I was thinking of a Glacier until I heard about all the problems with people running out of fuel at ¼ tank.
So anything bad about sucking more fuel past the stock pump than it puts out normally? That can't be good, can it?
I also wish a guy didn't need to use rubber hose and hose clamps when cutting into the steel lines, something thee just don't seem right...?

It's not as bad as you may think. I don't know about your 06, but on my 04 the steel lines comes out of my tank down along frame rail and changes to a rubber hose with clamps about 2 feet from engine. So I don't feel bad using more rubber hose's, I would care if the whole thing was rubber hose. Maybe upgrade to 1/2 inch rubber hose.

Quick question for you Holley Black and Blue Specialists....
Are they a free flow pump ? Meaning, if the pump poops out will the cp3 be able to pull fuel through ????
Thanks

It will pull fuel through the Holley for a little while, but as soon as you give it any pedal to accelerate the CP3 will be starved. Sometimes it goes for a little longer before pooping out than other times. I think it might have to do with how the pump internals are aligned when it stops running. I know this because I sometimes forget to plug my Holley relay wire back in after changing Smarty programs (helps prevent the pump running while the Smarty programs).
The Black might be better for the guys who aren't running an in-tank pump, but I'm pretty sure the Blue is all that's needed when running in conjunction with the stock in-tank pump. Even under extended WOT runs mine never drops below 14psi. The Black might give a couple extra psi, but it might also burn out faster because they're both being deadheaded.

Blue or Black
I have been running a Procomp Blue for the past year with no problems. I have 13 to 14 psi at idle and WOT about 9 or 10 psi. My truck is stoc on the fuel side of the motor, and I did take the fuel pump that was on the fuel filter off. I have a fuel pressure guage and with the stock pump I only had 6 to 7 psi at idle and sometime only had 1 psi at WOT. Keith
The only reason I'd choose the Black over the Blue is because the Black is compatible with alcohol and methanol, the Blue is not. Not really sure if it matters, though. I doubt there's enough of either in diesel or diesel additives to damage the Blue.
For $50 I may try one of those Procomp pumps. Used Holleys are selling for nearly twice that, and new they're nearly three times that price.
