help with u joints

hey i just blew a u joint and my so called mechanic buddy who's done alot of u joints before (apparently) broke the ear off my flange yoke? (the little one that bolts to the front of the rear differential... so FIRST QUESTION is there any aftermarket for these yokes? and i bought a u joint for my truck from napa.. and SECOND QUESTION it seems that when you have both cups in place there still one cup is kinda half covering the little groove you put the snap ring in to hold them in place.. is there a reason for this? i saw the guy look up the part # for the ujoint and i saw it was the right one for the auto transmisson.perhaps mytwo ears are a little bent or maybe im just not doing it right.. thanks for any help guys..

I would try a junkyard for the yoke and see how the u-joint fits in the new one.

I purchased the NAPA u-joints when I replaced mine. They were too wide even though the NAPA application guide says they are the correct ones. I could not get the clips in without major deformation to them. I took them back and went to the Dodge dealer for the correct ones. The Dodge ones cost more but there are no hassles installing them.
