Help! Think turbo is going out

Can someone please tell me why my 2003 Dodge 3500 dually is losing power? I have read several threads in here and have not found one that explains why my HO turbo is not making the whistling noise it once did. I think I got so used to it, I noticed it when it wasn't making the noise. I've also heard if I drive my truck with the turbo messed up (possibly) it will ruin the engine. Is this true? Is there a simple explaination why my turbo is not whistling or is it gonna be major $$$?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have any gauges on the truck? You might have low fuel pressure or maybe an intercooler boot that is leaking causing boost to bleed off.

^^^ hard to hear the sound over the rest of the motor noise at speed, like he said check the boots, any way you can get a boost gauge on it to test? also make sure nothing has gotten into the intake for the airfilter, critters can build a nest overnight that will hamper flow. Any smoke? what color? fuel line presure guage might let you know if the lift pump is trying to take out inj pump.

Pull the air intake off the turbo........grab the compressor shaft and turn it. If it turns freely and if you can't make the impeller touch the housing then you are good on the compressor side and can probably assume that you are good on the exhaust housing side as well. If this checks out then your problem is elsewhere as the others have mentioned. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Could it just be a dirty air filter?....sorry to sound stupid, if someone takes it that way, but that happened with my last BHAF

I would start with a fuel filter.
