I did some research on the APPS etc and want to be sure I'm on the right track.

My buddy just called me an hour or so ago and his 2003 (305/555 motor) was pulling out of a parking lot...engine revved to about 1500 RPM for no reason and he shut it down. Cranked it back up and truck idles fine BUT he has zero throttle.

I'm thinking APPS or TPS.

I read where someone here did a 'soft' reset and am having him try that.

 

My apps went at 60k miles but it was causing problems for about a year, which I didn't figure out til I replaced it. Same thing... good when I parked it but it suddenly lost power when I pulled out of the parking lot. Making a left on a busy 2 lane during rush hour, no less! It didn't die but I sat there several minutes before it had enough power to go again. it did it 2 more times on the way home. Next morning, it was fine for about 20 miles and it all started again. The codes didn't exactly implicate the apps but indicated throttle voltage, in one or two of them. The aftermarket $159 Williams tps retrofit from tstproducts.com looked much better to me than taking it to a dealer and grabbing my ankles. The new one fixed it plus all the other drivability problems that were cropping up. Later I read about the reset. I guess that's fine if it works and it lets you know where the problem is but then I'd replace it anyway. Craig
