Hard Starting

I've got an 06 Ram and I have an intermittent starting issue. Every so often the truck will take an extra 5-8 seconds of turning by the starter before the engine will fire. There is no rhyme or reason to it, it has done it after a night of sitting in the cold and after sitting for a few minutes in a store parking lot, outside and engine temperature seem to have no bearing on it at all.

I had the truck at the Dodge dealer last year when my wife was driving it and it went into limp mode. The limp mode cleared but the CEL stayed on, literally as I was pulling into the dealership the CEL went out. I managed to write the codes down and give them to the dealer, codes were P0201 and P2146, the dealer replaced the valve cover gasket. I was hopeful after that the starting problem would go away but it has not. If anything it has gotten more frequent lately. The dealer has put their scanner on it and found nothing, they said since there was no CEL they couldn't tell me anything.

The truck only has 48K miles on it so I'm somewhat surprised. Since the valve cover gasket was replaced that eliminates one possible cause but it still leaves me with the lift pump, injectors, even CP3 itself, or something that I haven't even thought of. I should also add the truck runs fine and I have noticed no power or mpg loss, just the goofy starting problem.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Mine has done that from time to time for several years. No real issue to worry about. It may be an injector issue. Guess I will find out one day when I send them to get upgraded. Until then, I don't worry so much about it.

My initial thinking was injectors as well as I've heard 3rd gen injectors have been known to have their issues. I plan on sending mine off to F1 for upgrades and repairs at some point myself. Being that my wife primarily drives the truck I didn't want it to get any worse or leave her on the side of the road before then.
