got a P0514 code
got a P0514 code
I got into my truck today and my check engine light popped on. It comes on every once in a while but last time it popped on someone told me how to check the code. I looked up the code its Battery Tempsensor is there anything i need to do ? from what I read online it said it should just reset its self. I looked at my battery it looks like one of the post is prietty corroded but i just cleaned it about 4-5 months ago. thanks just making sure I didnt have to do anything or check anything thanks
Very common code. I wouldn't even worry about it. If I use my block heater I sometimes get that code. I just pretend it doesn't exist. Been getting it on/off for 5 years and 123,000+ miles.
Check your battery's on a tester if they are good just remove the positive battery terminals from both sides and then reconnect them this should clear your p code alarms as long as the battery amps are good. The grid heater when activated will pull 100 + amps at start up.If the amps drop to far you will get the p5014 code.
Don't worry about it. If I recall correctly, there's even a TSB out there for a reflash that corrects a false positive reading that throws this code. There's another code that is similar (also fixed in the TSB) and they often appear in pairs. I got both codes recently. After a couple of days driving, the light went out. Truck continues to run fine.
