Going for a talk at the dealer.

With my tranny problems I am going to talk and plead with anyone that will listen. I want them to put me back in a 6 speed. This auto is not going to cut it. I know mine has problems from day one but I drove anther new one and its had the same sloppy feel. This auto would be fine for most people pulling lighter and on open road. I am pulling heavy and on hillls and curvy roads. This thing is slipping so bad its a shame. I am a good cutomer to them and have bought several trucks I hope they make it right for me. I told them when I traded my 6 speed 05 2500 what I would be doing with the truck and they said it iwould do fine. Well its not cutting it all. What do you think they will do?

of course they are going to tell you it will do just fine, they wanted to sell you the truck, they aren't stupid... Depending on if it is really slipping or just the sloppy feel you might not be used to I don't know, good luck getting it traded in though, hopefully you have enough inside pull with your dealer.

It's not that easy to just swap. They are going to stick it to ya, because your truck is now "used".

My suggestion is to bite the bullet, and get an upgraded Tq Converter and Valve body from Goerends, HTS, DTT or some other well respected co. It will cost a little bit of money up front but it will then put all the power to the ground. And you will get to keep the auto that you wanted in the first place.

My dealer (service manager) is actually my friend and a fellow CTD owner. He is still misinformed and knows very little about diesels. I know he has the best of intentions, but man is he ignorant about the CTD.

I'm with TexasCTD, weigh your options on trading vs. upgrading the stock tranny. Maybe cheaper to upgrade the tranny vs. taking a big hicky on trade in.

Man it must be slipping bad. I know when I pull my boat, I'll light the rear tires up if I try and get into it. But then again, I'm only carrying about a 1000lbs of tongue weight but pulling 13000 lbs.

A good torque converter will get rid of the slipping. I couldn't stand the stock converter's slipping even when not towing anything.

I can roast my tires while towing, also.

If you go back to the dealer you're going to get screwed, even if they are your "friends". Any way you look at it you're truck is used. I guarantee it will be cheaper to spend $2000 on a new torque convertor and valve body. Good luck!

I pull 16k daily and have no problems with my tranny stock. I can light up the tires easily on gravely or sandy pavement. That sucks for u but u will get screwed if you trade so soon. I would build the tc like others said. I wish I bought the 6 spd also, just for the better control but wife drives truck too and I doubt she would drive a diesel 6spd. good luck though.
