Getting H2 wheels/tires

I'm getting H2 wheels/tires. I know that the wheel ID needs to be opened up. How much? I'm going to have it done on a mill & not mess it up by opening w/ a die grinder.

I do not intend on getting a leveling kit - I'll put them on & see how much clearance I get. Anybody running H2 wheels w/o the leveling kit?

Mark,

Yes, I'm running them without a leveling kit. In fact I lowered the rear. No problems.

Did mine yesterday.

Just put my H2 wheels (polished aluminum) on yesterday and couldn't be happier with the reults. Had the machine shop go to 4.775. Not sure what they're margin for error was, but I'm sure it's less accurate than Hoot's in his writeup. The shop I used had a lathe, but not computer driven. They fit perfectly. I've seen aftermarket wheels with published hub hole diamaters up to 5.18", so it seems like all the worry about making the hole as close as possible might be overkill. I think this is why people using hole saws have been successful, too.

Also, I used an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel to cut the 7/8" off the center caps. Looks crude when caps are off, but can't see the rough cut whatsoever when they're on the wheels. Also, I used the angle grinder with a grinding wheel to shave off the necessary metal off the clips, as per Hoot's article. Everything works as described. Thanks Hoot!

I have pics in my reader's rigs section. LOL.

FYI, no leveling kit needed for me either. Just re-aimed the headlights down a bit. Here's Hoot's writeup: http://home.comcast.net/~hoot74/dodge/.

Looks great, Planetcat. Patriot Blue is beautiful on a RAM (and a Jeep Liberty...my wife has one in that color).
Thanks for the mention of the pics....I now know where my CTD emblems are going after I get my new flares.
