Fuel Water Seperator

I changed my oil yesterday and decided to pull the yellow handle to drain any water.....Do you leave the handle open until all the fuel and water stop or do you just drain it a few seconds and close it off?

I usually open the drain for about a count of 10, but I do it when I fill up. I know it's overkill, but WTH!

The manual states theat you open the valve until all the water and contaminants are removed......I was asking if it will stop after the water is out or will fuel keep coming out.......so therefore the manual isn't very clear....thanks though

This is a good question. I've also wondered the same thing. It will just continue to trickle for quite some time if you leave it open. How are you supposed to know when the water stops and the fuel starts? Is it a separate resivoir? I usually do it when I change the oil, and change the fuel filter every 10K. When that happens, I open the valve and pop the top. All the fuel drains out pretty quickly when I do that. BUT, I'm not sure how to tell when done is done if you don't open up the filter cap.
