Fuel on Oahu

I doubt there are many members here, but I figured I'd try anyway. Is there anywhere on the Island to get fuel for less than $3.74 a gallon? I'm in Milillani

I was there when I was younger(13-16yrs old). I recall the price of fuel being real high then aswell. I don't remember the exact price but I do remember everyone complaining about it. I guess it's the price you got to pay to live there and have it all shipped to you.

Yea I know, that seems to be the new normal for everywhere.

Diesel here is $3.30 and gas is at $2.80 or so. And I beleive we get most of our fuels from Canada(not very far away).

Unhappy

Doesnt seem like anyone can give a reason, but its the same here in Florida. Regular is $2.99 at its cheapest, Super is $3.20ish, and diesel is $3.39 at the cheapest. These are prices at the end of this week.

This is my sole opinion. I've thought this threw for some time and it makes the most sense to me.

We all know that diesel powered vehicles are becomming increaseingly popular. They generally offer better fuel economy, the oil companies/government knows this so why not hike up the prices and reap the rewards? As of right now the nations fleet of medium/light duty diesel vehicles is no match compared to gasoline motors but that will be changing real soon.

I also keep hearing people talking about diesel used for heating in the winter months, that's why the price is jacked up. What exactly is it being used to heat? The price of diesel seems to drop a little in the summer months. Maybe it will this year and maybe it won't. Time will tell. But I don't forsee it going below $3.00 a gallon ever again.

Not really. Diesel is really expensive on Oahu (just left there last month).

Cheapest I saw it was at the '76 station on Nimitz just before Pacific Ave (near Hilo Hattie's, K-mart, City Mill, etc). It was 3.45 there last I looked in Nov or so.

The island Mini-Mart on Dillingham should be about $3.75, which is about as good as you can do on the island. The Tesoro on Kam hwy is $3.80, which is about the going rate.

I used to be able to get it for $3.15 on post july-oct '07, then it shot up to $3.66 all of the sudden and now its $3.74, and thats on schofield. I have heard that the reason diesel is higher is that there are additional taxes on fuels with higher btu ratings, which is asinine as far as I'm concerned.

I'll pay more for ULSD to get a cleaner fuel-- even if it means adding lubricity enhancers.

A gallon of milk off base at a Foodland or something was almost $7 without a discount card

At a Commissary, it was more like $4, IIRC.
