Yup. As easy a diesel filter to change as I have ever seen. What gets me is some folks are paying their dealer $100.00 + to change it.

Yup...Just did mine again about 2 weeks ago. Takes me about 20 min. and that is doing a lot of cleaning of the area and the filter housing inside. Actual labor is less than 5 min.

Yup. Gotta love working on a Cummins. A while back I had a fuel filter plug up on an '06 6.0 powerstroke at work. What a nightmare. I think it would have been easier to disassemble the whole truck to get to it. Not to mention there are two to change and they are like $150 or something rediculous. Took me almost two hours and a lot of mess to clean up. I've changed a Cummins filter on the side of the road several times before and it takes about 10 min without ever getting a drop of diesel on you. Gotta love it.

rxp4me,
Use a 1 1/8" socket. I use a 1/2" ratchet with a 9" extention and a swivel hooked to my 1 1/8" socket. Works well for me !

Don't over tighten the cover. There is not that much pressure in it. I just hand tighten it as tight as I can and it is easier the next time. The cover says max torque is 25 ft/pnds, but it's very hard to get off. Don't forget to oil the oil ring. I use a turkey baster to suck the bottom stuff out.
