Fuel additives Looking for the real truth to do so or not
Nothing. I tried two different things in my 01 before and didn't change anything. Haven't used anything in my 04, and won't. Instead with my slip tank I added another fuel filter, IMO if your worried about your fuel make sure it is getting good filtration more then anything.
I run a mix of filtered WMO and 2-stroke at about a 50-to-1 fuel-to-add treat ratio. Between the two trucks and the wife's car I can burn what gets run in the sumps at almost the same rate. There's a 6-gallon backlog right now.
Why give it back to the oil company after I've already paid for it once when it can be used to offset the ULSD demon and extend the life of my pumps and injectors?

You are kidding?????
Below is a web address for the results of the fuel lubricant study:

PS: I use the Opti-Lube summer blend and have no complaints. I switched after reading the study and finding that one additive I used made almost no improvement, and another actually reduced lubricity of the fuel.

Here's the current setup:

The Wix is 12um and the Motorguard does submicronic. The pump is, well, a pump.

and how much do you add to a tankful??????? I am already running Wally world ashless TCW-3 @ 128:1 and you mix the WMO @ what ratio????
It's about two hundred bucks (at eBay prices) worth of junk hanging on my garage wall and a half hour of my time several times a year to drain, re-fill and shuffle jugs around. No trips to the recycle place with dirty oil anymore. I've been running the add mix about 65/35 WMO to 2-stroke. I cut it with Howes during the cold months to something like 50/30/20 WMO/2-stroke/Howes.

IF IT IS CLOSE TO YOU - - - WHY NOT USE THE BEST-- BIODIESEL? ALSO AT NO EXTRA COST- AT LEAST WHERE I LIVE, IT IS SAME AS USLD. IF IT IS CLOSE TO YOU USE THE BEST- OR WASTE MONEY.
I don't run any additives in my truck. No ATF, waste motor oil, additive, 2 stroke, nothing. Playing with fire putting that junk in a CR system. If you want it to run quite, pull a heavy load or run some B5 in it. B5 is getting really common in my area. Shell is selling alot of it.
I run the same fuel add in both a 1st Gen and a Common Rail. I believe the CR actually needs it more due to the extremely high injection pressures and more sensitive injectors.
It's not a question of what they "can" run, it's what they "need" to run (better). The first time I put 2-stroke in the CR, the engine showed a clearly audible and tactile improvement - smoother and quieter. YMMV. If it delays me having to buy injectors for even one year, I'd say well worth it. I'm countnig on it from preventing me having to buy new injectors ever.
