Front end clunking
Front end clunking
For a while now I've had the same problems I read about on here with a slight clunking in the front end at lows speeds. Usually happened in parking lots over speed bumps and such. Now I have started to feel it when braking through the steering wheel and the pedal. I have new shocks on and when I had my tires rotated last week we checked the ball joints and uni's for play and they were all good. I can turn the tire about 1/4 in and it feels like play in the diff. Is this normal. I have 77k on the truck and have full syn in everything.
another easy thing to check is the track bar have some one turn the wheel back and forth and look for play in the bushings or a loose bolt on the track bar mounts. another thing people have found to clunk is worn sway bar bushings. i assume if you were prying on the tires to check bj's you would have noticed play in the hubs. and if the shocks were replaced recently its worth checking the lower mounting bolts they can clunk if not tight enough...
I purchased my truck new and it has allways clunked if I go over an curb or speed bump slowly. A frind of mine had the same issue. He removed the front coils and found a bolt had sheared off giving the coils / shock slop when the wheel dropped.
