Front Drive Shaft centering Ball
Front Drive Shaft centering Ball
Guys, I've had that annoying vibration that has taken for ever to get rid of.....It is actually a whole bunch of vibrations masking the others...fix one the next clue appears. Anywho...I've balanced the rear shaft, replaced all ball joints and ujoints, checked all the calipers and pads and the last thing is the front drive shaft. The ujoints are good but the frickin centering "ball" behind the yoke next to the transfer case is the final problem. It no longer holds the shaft in center so I have an intermittent vibration and squeeeeeellll!
In the 2nd gens there was a kit to fix it and now they tell me for this one little frickin ball being gone I have to replace the whole CV drive shaft!!!
Does anyone know of a place that has these parts to fix it....There is probably a core charge on the shaft as it is only $325 for the shaft with ujoints but really they are getting $325 for a $5 part. I'm looking now for a used one but I'd rather fix with new if possible....If you know of something or know where a used on is....let me know. ks

A new definition to the term , preventive maitaince = prevent you from maitaining anything .
I used to like the auto repair buis. but hate it now , becouse of this kind of thing.
Sorry I cannot give you a lead on the solution to your problum , I've done a lot of these , but not on the newer trucks so I cannot say for sure that you can get the part , but if they can you can is what I think, where are you going for this ?
Hopfully not the dealer , look in the yellow pages for driveline service & parts , or a bearing house.

Guys, Found one at a dealer for $275....I guess I'll have to buy it and then figure out how to fix it after for a spare or one of you guys. I'm not the only one with this problem as there are 24 on back order with Dodge in Canada.....This maybe the source of that mysterious drive line vibration .... a faulty centering ball. I've done everything and its down to this.
