Front Drive Line Grease Fitting!

Ok guys I've read the thread and seen the pictures where to grease the front drive line. My u-joints don't have any place to grease them? Is it possible they are a sealed unit! I even went and bought the needle to gease them! Any help I would appreciate It!

your stock u-joints do not have grease zerks, they are sealed. However, there is a ball and socket in the double cardan on the front shaft that is greasable. That's what the pictures are trying to help you locate. It has a "female" zerk. All you are greasing with that grease point is the ball and socket, not the whole driveline.

It is real hard to see. I Put a floor jack and lifted the drivers front wheel and kicked the wheel around. With a flashlight I looked at the shaft. I must have spun the shaft 3 or four times before finally seeing the spot. It was hard to see because it has never been greased before. I assumed the dealer was servicing it .

I did the same and then when I finally found it, I hit it with grease and made sure the zerk had a good covering on the outside of greese as well. THEN I took a bright red spray bomb and painted that area of the yoke so I can see it alot easier now.

Good idea Skinner! The next time I'm under the truck, the red paint (or maybe yellow) goes with me.

I went to the Dodge dearership to get the grease for this fitting. The sticker under the hood calls for a lithium base grease. It also has a mopar part number. I thought lithium based grease was white? The grease I bought from the dealership,"which matched the part number on the sticker" is green.
Anyway, I have 31k on my truck and have never greased this fitting. Before this picture, I could never find it. How do I know how much grease is enough?
Also, changing the gear lube in my axles. I bought Royal Purple 75W-140. Is R.P. a good choice?

Normally, you pump grease in until it begins to be forced past the seals of the bearing(s).

No Plugs, I put Royal Purple in mine about 10,000 miles ago. I'm am satisfied with it so far, but I have a feeling that it might be a "fad". Royal Purple is a great lubricant which was designed around the racing sector which, as you know, they change their fluids after the Race... I'm going to keep it until my next change interval and then change to Amsoil 75W 110. Just my .02
