I assume your talking about the Fleetguard filter that fits in the stock airbox?

Wow I thought the fleetguard would be an improvement.

Gosh, I run that exact filter element in my '04. I have none of the symptoms you describe.

 

Maybe I just got a bad one? I dunno, but after installing the NAPA gold I instantly noticed more power and a quieter engine (doesn't have to work as hard I guess). According to posts on this site, it should flow ~200 cfm more air (33%) than the Fleetguard.

(BTW, not trying to diss Fleetguard, just sharing my experience with y'all)
