Fluid level checks on new 4x4

I intend to check the fluid levels on all of the gear boxes and diffs on my truck before it leaves the dealer lot. Can anydody tell me what tools I need to bring with me. Thanks Jason

I see you ordered yours....I wouldn't take a tool one with me as I'd have the dealer check everything before I took delivery. If they're a quality dealership, they'll listen to your concerns or better yet, print out the thread on the differential underfills, and give them a copy. As I was saying, if they're worth their salt, they check and fill as appropriate once they've learned of your concern. And all before you pick it up.

Then, if you're still concerned, check it when you get one. But I'm sure the dealer will have covered themselves prior to delivery - assuming you make your concerns known before taking deliver.

I picked mine up last Saturday and didn't know about the differential underfills until I got home. I checked it and it was low...the dealer told me I could bring it in or they would give me a couple quarts to fill it. I opted to do it myself and yes, it was only one quart low. I used the one quart and returned the other unopened to the dealer with a thanks and a smile for trusting me - then they thanked me and apologized for the underfill from the factory...gave me a free Dodge hat for the troubles. Great dealership.

Let them do it, but be adamant about them letting you underneath it to stick your finger in yourself.

Bill Butler in Warner Robins Ga. checked mine before I left the Dealership. Guess what? I checked it when I got home and it was 24 oz low :

Thanks for the replies. I think I will give them the opportunity to make it right, then recheck later and see if they are trustworthy.
Thanks Jason
