Fluid Leak 2007 5.9

I just recently bought a 2007 MegaCab with a 6 speed tranny with about 57,000 miles on it. I love the truck!!! I am starting to notice some fluid leaking from the tranny. I inspected under the truck and found that it is leaking from the two plates that are on both the right and left side of the transmission and have about 6 or 8 bolts with a star shape on them. The fluid is sometimes as little of a leak as a quarter and then sometimes much bigger. The truck is shifting fine and drives great, not making any noises that it shouldnt. Any ideas on why the truck is leaking fluid from there???? I just traded in my POS 6.0l Ford in which i had high pressure oil pump replaced, glowplugs, and headgaskets!!!! Im hoping I didnt get another money pit!!!!!

Sounds like the PTO covers. Mine leak a little too (didn't use enough RTV when I put the fast coolers on). The fluid was probably changed, and not sealed properly.

Its a very easy fix, drain the trans, re-goup the PTO covers, and filler back up.

the fluid is red, and i know its not the coolant hose because i tightened that once before this is actually leaking from the transmission

Get a roll of cork gasket and make a gasket yourself. Won't ever leak again. Never had good luck with RVT on the NV5600 and G56 trans covers.
