Firestone Level-Rite Air shocks
Firestone Level-Rite Air shocks
I see that Firestone has a leveling air shock for the Dodge Ram HD. Has anyone tried these? If so what do you think, are they better then the conventional leveling kits?
i seen that also. i believe its called firestone ride rite. i know the rear shock/bag kit is model 2299 for our trucks. ill find the front #. i know it consists of a stock looking shock that has a built in air chamber. you can raise truck to whatever desired height....
Air shocks have been around forever. Back in the 70's we used them to jack up the rear of a "hot rod". But, bad things happened, exactly as Hylander said. The shock mounts are not meant to support that much weight. It wasn't uncommon for the mounts to break. I wouldn't use air shocks on to anything to raise the ride height. You can use them to stiffen the ride a bit for better handeling. But not for raising ride height, or increasing pay load.

Firestone has them on their website now, a new item for 2009. Myself and Sallyman1 were just wondering if anyone has used them on their 3rd Generation Dodge and how they compare to the normal leveling kits.
i have them installed on my 2005 ram 3500 the work great i also had them on my 92 gmc 1500 it hauled a 29f fifth wheel kept it level very much improved the ride i would recommend them highly for your truck
