Question fill plug removal off stock diff cover

Is there a special socket one has to use to remove the fill plug on the diff cover? I was going to use a 3/8 extension but I'm weary. It seems the fit is a little loose and I don't want to strip it. How have you guys done it.? Thanks

That's what I used when I did mine. Dont apply too much pressure when tighten the bolts for the cover, I had one that the bolt head snapped off!!

A 3/8" drive works great. Fill plug torque is 24 ft lbs; diff cover bolts are 30.

Thanks guys. Got it off tonight. The problem is I had the cover off of the axle already so trying to hold the cover down and turn a wrench on the floor was an issue. Sprayed some brake-free on it, let it soak, and off it came.
