extended warrany??
Re:extended warrany??
The dealer I bought my truck from didn't even offer the extended warrenty to me. I asked why and he said that there is not much use for an extended warrenty on a vehicle like that. I would not have bought the extended warrenty anyway. They usually try to shove that warrenty down your wind pipe when you buy a vehicle.
Re:extended warrany??
If it was goof for the customer, they wouldn't offer it. It's good for the company. I traded my '03 hemi in on the '04 HO CTD. The business manager looked at that fact and that I was a cash buyer and said "Obviously you aren't interested in an extended warranty". I don't buy 'em anyway. I rad a post recently about one of the warranty companies that went out of business. Everyboday lost the money they'd paid for the service contract and had to pay for obligated repairs. Extended warranties are usually not OE warranties.
Re:extended warrany??
DC offers extended warrantees to make more profits. So they figure that they will come out ahead. I am not usually a fan of these warrantees but did buy it for this truck because of the amount of electronics involved and the cost of replacing them. Mechanically, I am really not worried about the longevity of the truck. Only time will tell if I made the right decision.

Yeah, the only bad part of my "buying experience" was when the Sales manager tried 3 times to cram the extended warantee down my throat. I was getting tired of his pitch and let him know it, so he finally left me alone. Warantees in my experience are rip. Dealers do their best to not honor it anyway.-Steve
Re:extended warranty??
I bought the extended warranty when I bought my truck new. I paid the 1200 or so dollars and went on with enjoying my truck.
After a couple of weeks I started getting notices from Dodge that it wasn't too late to buy the extended warranty
I didn't pay it a great deal of mind as it sometimes takes awhile for the data bases to catch up to the sales force.
Somewhere around the 6th month of ownership I received the notice again, I read it a little closer and it specifically named me as the owner and that I did not have the extended warranty.
I broke out the paperwork and sure as heck I had indeed paid for the warranty, I called the Dealer and low and behold.........
They had forgot to send in the money...and they forgot to send in the paperwork :
Yeah right, I bet that happens all the time. I am sure they were hoping I would let the truck go long before I ever needed the warranty.
I don't for a moment believe all dealers are crooks, but it is things like this that really give them a black eye, one bad apple spoils the barrel
PS, I got the money back

I've got the DC Extended Warranty and I always buy them from DC. Not the aftermarket ones the dealership offers because those companies require you call first and get approval, that is if they are still in business ??? ???
I have had to use them on several occasions and it helps when they need to keep your truck for a couple of days and you need a rental car that is covered in the warranty.
Teh extended Warranty is just like auto insurance except you have to have auto insurance
I reccomend it, however you can purchase it after you get the truck thru DC's web site and not thru the dealer.

That happens more than you know. Dealerships make tons off the ESP's.

Re:extended warrany??
I invested the money needed to purchase an extended warranty. I figure $1500 is 1-2 major things go wrong (excluding drivetrain). Chances of 2+ major things going wrong is slim. The money is there if i need it, if not i dont lose it. Dodge is betting they produced a solid vehicle, you are betting they didnt.
Re:extended warrany??
I've gotten them in the past but not on this truck. My dealer was asking too much money for one thing. Then when I was a little hesitant he threw in the "you don't have to get it now but if you wait it will cost you a couple hundred dollars more". That's when I decided to definitely not get it. I hate being pressured!! >
I may still get it in the future but only from DC because I too don't trust that these other companies will still be around when I have a claim....

Re:extended warrany??
Of all the people who I know that have purchased an extended warranty; only one has used it to his advantage.
Then again, his truck was a borderline lemon law case, and the money he saved with it probably made up for all those others who didn't need it.
I'd invest it, and if you ultimately don't need it; its a perfect rainy day fund.

Re:extended warrany??
Along the same logic as Casey I took the plunge and bought the DC warrenty. these days 1-2 things will virtually pay for it. I also didnt feel comfortable trying to read between the lines of what the base warrenty was not going to include. Additionally, and probably most importantly, I have no intention of selling this truck before 100,000 miles.
It is probably more piece of mind but then again this is like any other insurance that you pay for years and never use. The minute you go without Murphys Law comes to play.
Do I sound like and insurance salesman or what? Scary

Re:extended warrany??
I'm still debating on getting the extended warranty. I emailed 5 local Dodge dealers and asked them if they could price match the Maxium Care DC warranty I found online. I told them it was 7year/70k miles for $1,100. Four of them said they could match it! So you might want to try that approach.

If I buy any it will be DC's warranty. Only reason for getting the 70k one is that I only drive 22 miles per day to work.
