exhaust brake install

I have a BD in line exhaust brake that is vacuum controlled. I took it off of my 2nd gen. I would like to put it on my 2005 3rd gen. what are my options for a vacuum pump to run that e-brake on that truck?

most of the vacuum brakes were for the 12 valve 30lb springs and have very little stopping power compared to the bd air for the 24 valve. if you drive many miles like we do the vacuum pump will give trouble about every 100,000 miles, most times it just requires replacing the diaphragm but if the pump locks up it burns the serpentine belt into before you can pull over and get it stopped, as long as the belt did not get into the fan and radiator you can put the old belt back on and continue. if you are still stuck on using the old bd you can get the pump and belt from genosgarage.com, the pump is $239. i can not remember for sure but there maybe a angle bracket you might need to fabricate, as our jake pumps failed we pulled them off and replace the brakes with the bd air, on two of the trucks that go out of state i pulled the pumps while they were still working if there was a bracket on them i think i still have one pump left i can let you have the bracket. i still have one 03 that has a jake so i need to keep the pump. i may see that truck today, if i do i will see if it has a bracket and take a pix. think new bd air you can install in two hours.

I was talking to someone about my e-brake project and they told me to look into an electric vacuum pump. Have you seen anyone go that route?

yes i have and it is a better option, he used a firestone compressor used for air bags and hooked up the line where the air filter was.
