Engine temp
Engine temp
Morning from AZ
On a recent trip to the mountains when pulling a pretty good grade I noticed the engine temp got hotter (245) than normal (220). Pulling 12 to 13K. When not pulling grades, temp is normal. What should I be looking for?
Thanks

When pulling a heavy load up a grade, it's normal for the engine temperature to go up. A few things to check:
Cooling System: Make sure your radiator and cooling fans are working well. Check for any leaks or blockages.
Coolant Levels: Ensure the coolant is at the correct level and in good condition.
Thermostat: Check if the thermostat is functioning properly.
Radiator Cap: Inspect the radiator cap for any damage or leaks.
Engine Oil: Ensure the engine oil is at the right level and not old.
If the temperature goes back to normal when not under load, it could just be the strain of pulling heavy loads. But if the high temp continues or gets worse, it might be worth getting a professional opinion.
Hope this helps!
