Engine revs up while at idle
Hello,
I have on '05 3500 6 speed with an Adrinaline on it (right around 2+ years). With in the past 2-3 months I have noticed that my truck with randomly rev up from 7-800 rpms to like 1600rpms then right back down to 7-800 rpms. It's like somebody revving it to show off how loud it is but nobody is in it. I called Qaudzilla to see if it could be something with my Adrinaline all the sudden acting up, but they said no. Does anyone know what might be causing this??? |
Might be a small leak in oil from the intake side of the turbo is causing the increased RPM. More than likely it is electrical such as the TPS.
|
I haven't noticed any sort of oil leak. Is there any way to check the TPS to see if it is going out?
|
how cold was it outside, I had mine kick into high idle while up in the mountains this winter and was told it was due because of the temp. outside
|
Most high idle is 1000 RPM. Kurran's is temporarly ging to 1600 tand then back down.
I am not sure how to check the TPS. But you can take the boot off between the turbo and intercooler and see if there is any traces of oil in it. If it is dry then you have eliminated that possibe problem. |
Ok I will remove the boot tomorrow and check that out.
Yeah the truck isn't idling up because it's cold, in fact ever since I have put the adrenaline on it doesn't idle up by itself when it's cold any more :( Not to happy about that, but let it idle 10 or more minutes on cold mornings before driving anyway. |

Replace it and drive worry free. Ask me how I know. |
Yeah latlely I have been thinking maybe it wasn't the best idea to go with the adrenaline. I was drawn in by the gauges in the monitor and the fact you could make your own tunes, but no matter what power seems to below par. A fellow welder at work just put a smarty jr on and said he can break the wheels loose in 4th and 5th gears!:o I consider that pretty impressive considering all the weight we carry on our rigs. I decently can't do that with the adrenaline

[duhhh] Yep that defently cleared up the confusion. I thought you were say adrenaline had messed up something on your truck. Still though I can't seem to get what I want out of mine. I need to make a post on the other section about it
