engine question
I am looking at buying a 3rd generation cummins powered ram, but I am concerned because they have quieted them down considerably from the 2nd generation engine. How can I make the 3rd generation cummins as loud as the 2nd generation and also make the turbo whine louder? I want it to sound just like my 2001 isb
Well you can make the turbo whine louder, you can make the exhaust louder.BUT you can't make the engine louder.Differant injection system.Differant exhaust and differant air intake with a torque tube and removing the silencer ring will make truck louder. Can't restore the diesel clatter due to the injection event and totaly differant injection system.

About all you can do with the exhaust is make it rumble a bit. That's keeping it with a muffler and keeping the kitty. If you want to go 100% straight pipe, she'll be loud, almost obnoxious loud. I know, my '99 was a straight pipe all the way. People look at you funny when you drive a straight pipe!!!
Real diesel guys just give you the thumbs up though!!!!!!!!!
