I have a 2003 3500 HO SRW With 85,000 on it with no modes. The other morning I started it and it was pinging and missing for a minute or so and then it cleared up. So I checked the fuel filter which I just changed 2000 miles ago. It looked good but since I did have it out I changed it again. For the next week the truck gradually started to run poorly again. The pinging and missing started again. It sounds like a diesel from the 50ties on a very cold morning. It will not clear up even after the engine reaches operating temps. I'm new on this site and can see there is a wealth of information here so any help would be greatly appreciated.

No such code???? Try checking the codes again. Turn the key from off to on 3 times ending in the on position. Codes will read out in the odo display. Check your code on this link.

the 0700 code is "eatx controller DTC present" here is a brief description of DTC
"this SBEC III or JTEC DTC indicates that the EATX or aisin controller has an active fault and has illuminated the MIL via a CCD (EATX) or SCI (aisin) message. The specific fault must be acquired from the EATX via CCD or from the aisin via ISO-9141."

P0088 is high fuel rail pressure, and is telling you that the rail relief is not occurring as it should. That will create the appearance of a code for the transmission controller as the PCM attempts to communicate with the TCM, and the CCD diagnostic will likely provide a code in the P0880-892 as the TCM is attempting to set itself to failsafe.

What is likely wrong is an injector failing to fully open, and creating a momentary high pressure flutter in the rail, and that sets the code. Likely a sticking solenoid. If it continues without resolution it will knock out the pump relief too.

Took my truck to the dealer today and it still not running right.They said I have bad fuel and for 300 dollars they would drop the tank and clean it.My question is this I drained a gallon of fuel out of the fuel separator it was a little cloudy but after a day of sitting in the jug it cleared up was this air bubbles in the fuel. Dan

 

Where did you purchase your fuel? If contaminated with water gas station should pay for cleaning tank and any fuel you will loose. If they refuse to pay then your insurance company should be notified and any engine damage will also be covered such as injectors or injection pump. My truck was getting water in tank from vents at top of tank. Recall was done which is just a piece of hose installed on vent to prevent water from entering tank. Total billed to insurance company was $10,000. Covered all injectors, fuel lines, cp3 pump, removal of cylinder head and cleaned all internal fuel return lines of rust. The PCM was also bad since it never turned on water in fuel light on dash. Good Luck
