Hey guys quick question, can I use an 03 block in my 05 truck? Meaning can I transfer my parts to an 03 block. Might be able to get one cheaper than fixing my 05 block. tia!

What do you need to get done to your 05' block that your wanting go with an 03' block. Lets start there.

 

#5 piston gone. Not sure how bad, but there is excess blowby meaning exhaust coming out of the blowby tube. I was figuring if I could transfer things over it would cut down on down time in case my block is really bad.

 

depends i know the injector spray pattern is different so the pistons mite be different

 

Went through the same problem on my 06'. When my turbo went it threw out #5 and #4 totally burnt them up. To machine and sleeve the block cost alittle under $400. Do you have an 03' block already are were you going to buy one? If you do have one I would call cummins and ask them about a swap.
