Electronic shift transfercase 4x4

Anyone have an opinion or real life experience with the electronic shift transfercase on the 2003's? I've always liked to manually shift mine because then I knew it was in, but on the new truck my wife and I are picking up today, it has the electronic shift and I'm a bit leary! Please give me some feed back. Thanks

My new truck does not have the Electronic shift, but my old truck did, it was a sliperado, I did not like it, I had to replace it a couple of times, now I own a Dodge with a manual Transfercase, no more Electronic shift for me becouse of the sliperado product.

My last drive (93 Ranger) had the electronic transfer case and worked like a charm for all 239,000 km that I had her. And she saw some tough time! I've got it on this truck and look forward to many worry free off road times!

Ken

Again, not direct experience with dodge 03's , but my chevy tahoe had it, and it also worked like a charm. Not a hint of problem from it, and it got used all the time. It's nice to have the floor free for extra leg room.

On the other hand, my jeep wrangler had the transfer case gear on the floor, and it was always a terrible pain to get in and out of low. Go figure.

This post is pretty pointless however, because you already ordered the electronic shift case. My guess is you are anxious for your new truck and can't stop talking about it =] I'm jealous!

Re:Electronic shift transfercase 4x4

Well, I'm loving my electronic shifter. With the wet/snowy winter here this past year, I was able to use 4Hi a lot - sometimes just to get better traction at stoplights on rainy days, sometimes to slog thru a few feet of snow or mud. Very handy, and not showing any sign of breaking yet. And as an added bonus, the spot where the shifter column would've gone is perfect for my cellphone.

My old Ford Exploder had one. It was trouble free past 100K.

100 Proof
