electric ticking sound before starting

04.5 HO , puzzeled to what it is , lift pump ? it does not stop after the grid heater dash light goes off, and will continue ticking with the key on until the engine is started,Thanks.

The injectors will cycle and make a clicking sound before you start it.Thats what I'd suspect.

Injectors 1 & 6 cycle to bleed off any pressure in the system. That will continue until the ECU sees pressure from the CP-3.

Is this bleed down, CP3 pressure thing the reason for the very slight delay in the engine firing after you turn the key to the start position??

Bleeds off pressure to where, into the cylinders?

I think it is the grid heater continuing to cycle to harm the intake air. BUt i could be wrong.

clicking does not sound like its comming from the grid heater intake area, I left the key on to see if it stopped and after about 45 seconds it stopped.

Into the injector fuel return circuit.

Not really. The pressure is bled out of the rail so the CP-3 can build start pressure faster at just starter speed, that and synching the cam sensor and crank sensor to set the injection timing.
