driveline removal

I took out the four bolts on the rear drivline, but it wont come off. the manual says to pry it away, but I dont see how I can actually do that. any advice on how to get my driveline disconnected?

smack it good(at the flange on the rear of the driveline) with a large dead blow hammer. or use a block of wood to cushion the blow from a large steel hammer.
put 2 bolts back in loosely to catch the driveline when you shock it loose.

got it, thanks.

I took it down, and attempted the ujoint replacement. but the vice I have is too small, I tried a C clamp and it bent. So I am taking the driveline and ujoints to my shop now. at least it will be cheaper then taking it all in and having them do ALL the work.

I noticed the front ujoints are going out as well, but I dont have time to take those down, and in, seeing as I need my truck tomorrow. but I dont have to worry about those TOO much right? seeing as I am not using 4wheel drive? or is that logic wrong?

the front driveline is always turning whenever your truck is moving, they arent powered, but spinning cause the are driven from the front wheels turning. so, they wear the same as the back.
they just arent stressed as bad.

Couldnt find it right off but awhile back there were some threads about it being cheaper to buy the new (or maybe rebuilt) front drive shaft rather than replacing the u-joints. Dang it...still couldnt find it. This is the note I had copied but now I cant find the thread::: "On the front joint setup just replace the whole shaft. Its only $200 for an end to end replacement shaft with 3 new u joints and the double cardan do dad" Wish I had noted the authors name but if true, it might be worth researching.
