Drive by wire laggy?

Not sure if maybe my truck needs a flash update, but the drive by wire (throttle) is very laggy when I let off. Accelerating is very smooth and responsive, but sometimes if I've given the truck enough throttle and I let off, it will accelerate for another 2-3 seconds. For instance: The girlfriend and I were in a snowy area earlier and I punched the throttle to kick the back end sideways. Once broke loose, I let off completely to straighten the truck back out. The only catch was that the truck felt like it was accelerating for a few more seconds, and it made it MUCH more difficult to straighten the back end out. It's done it a few times before and I never thought much, until I realized it could be the difference between an accident or no accident if the truck kicks out on accident on a road and I can't regain control.

Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas?!

Shawn

Thats been asked before, and I think in my own opinion its just the normal lag from when you let go and the truck reacts, electrons can lag by a second or two. I work on fly by wire airplanes and they are the same way, you give a command and it takes a second or 3 to feel the responce, especially/mostly in fuel systems.

That blows. This truck is a 100 times better than my 99 and that throttle thing is going to annoy the poop out of me. Every time I feel it happen I feel like my truck is going to drive away on me.

I have the same problem with my 03.. It`s a pain when you try to shift fast, you have to ' wait the rpm '... Acceleration is nice, but when i let off the go pedal, it takes time to lower the rpm..

Strange thing is that Duracrap use the same fuel system ( CP3 ) and don't have this ' throttle delay '... I know it's a different beast, but it's a CR, the new VW Jetta w/ the CR engine don't have this problem too..

Im gonna take a closer look at this when i'll find a spare ECU...

I always though it was the turbo needing to spool down and get rid of all that great air that has been pumped into the intake. I guess i was wrong..

Definitely not the case. When you cut fuel, you'll hear the turbo bark. The older engines didn't have the same problems, even with bigger turbos and heavier fueling.

I remember when the WRX's first came out with drive by wire they were getting a lot of complaints about lack of power and responsiveness because the drive by wire was taking too long to respond to pedal input. IIRC, they came out with a computer update that addressed and fixed the issue.
