how do you do a compression test on a cummins ? what are the part numbers on on the tools required ?

Leak down test rather than a compression test is the reccomended way to test. Compression test will tell you if you have a dead hole but not if there is excessive wear in the cylinder(s).

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish also.

 

i need to find out if i have a bad piston or if it is an injector. i can't drive the truck to the dealer for them to hook it up to the dbr computer. the truck is a 04.5 with 341000+ mi on it . it pulls heavy loads on a daily basis.

 

anybody have anything else to add ?

 

bump....also need to find out how...have an 04 with what sounds like a broken piston banging around and alot of blow by...

 

i found that my truck drop a valveseat.i still would like to know. how to a compression test ?
