I do believe it is the difference between what your truck is GVW for and the axle rating. Plus the 3500 has overload springs to help with the towing capacity.

Yeah, on the 3rd gens at first the 3500 SRW's came with overload springs, cab lights, and a higher weight rating.

Later 3500 SRW's didn't come with the cab lights unless that option was also ordered.

In 04.5.....

The difference is a 9000lb GVWR vs. 9900lb. GVWR.

2 overload springs on the rear axle.

Standard Cab lights and "3500" badging.

To get the SRW 3500 was around $500.00 more for the same truck, otherwise, in a 2500. It was worth it, imo.

I believe that is all of the differences,,,,,but there may have been some other "standard" stuff that came because it was a "3500".....like the "Cummins Diesel" instead of standard "Hemi" engine.

Thx for the help. I'm looking at buying an 04.5 slt srw 3500. It has 70k miles on it and dealer added King Ranch Leather interior, 3" lift and rims and tires. It also has a cowled hood. Otherwise it is stock no performance upgrades. Did the 3500 come with larger brakes ? And where is the extra 900 pnds in the gvwr coming from. Thx

Firedoger...I believe the brakes are the same as 2500 SRW and the extra GVW comes from the rear suspension. I'm pretty sure the front springs are the same as 2500.

I don't notice any difference in ride between my 2500 GMC and my 3500 Ram.

I just traded up from an 06 2500 to an 06 3500 drw. I noticed absolutely no difference in ride. The overload springs are just that, they are unused until you load the truck.

No, both 2500 and 3500 are 11.5 AAMs.

Don't know about changes specific to MY, but I HAVE seen a late model dually with "Hemi" badges on the fenders. I also know that in very early '03, the 2500 and 3500 were both available with the V10. So, AFAIK, the Cummins Diesel is not standard in the 3500. My truck is an '04 and I have no plans for buying another for MANY years, so I don't keep up with what is and isn't standard on newer trucks.

Come to think of it, I did see a "dually" with a hemi one time. (what a waste of a truck!!) But I don't recall ever seeing a SRW 3500 with a hemi. Maybe they have made them.......not sure.

We bought our 05 SRW 3500 last spring. it has the cab lights. has about 50k miles on it now. i did notice on a frame sticker towards the back of the truck that had 3500 Srw or something like that on it. so would the frame be different at all?
