Question diameter of 03 muffler?

Does anyone know the diameter of a 2003 muffler? I was told that they are reduced to 3" on the inside. This came from an exhaust salesman though.

Overall diameter of the muffler or the in/out exhaust pipe diameter?
The exhaust pipe from the turbo to the muffler is 3.5" and the tailpipe is 4"

What I was wondering about the inside diameter. In other words, is it reduced to 3" further inside, where we can't see? If that's the case, then my system is really a 3". Again, I was told this by someone trying to sell me an exhaust system. thanks for any help.

I remembered someone posted a pic (here or on the TDR) with the stock muffler cut open. There are smaller diameter pipes inside the muffler. But don't know the overall diameters.

Man, I tossed my orig muffler (when it was only a few months old) in the dumpster a bout 4 years ago and never looked back - nor inside it.

By the most common definition, the size of the exhaust system is the dia of the exhaust pipes, not necessarily the size of the holes inside the muffler. Most folks who replace the system toss the muffler as well.
