Damaged at Dealer

I dropped my truck off at the dealer this morning for the injection pump leak, front crank seal leak and the driveline knock.I thought that it was unusual for the dealer to call this afternoon to give an update on the parts being ordered.well after informing me that star is going to have to ok the pump, the service writer wanted to know where I purchased my step bars and how much. I then was informed that the truck slipped off the lift and damaged my driver side step bar.I will go to dealership and check for more damage in the morning.

i'm in a similar situation. thermal sensor for battery turned into two damaged doors on the passenger side. i won't let my insurance pay for the damage. dealer wants my insurance to subrogate the bill to them [the dealer]. looks like i might have to put a claim against dealers insurance [Universal Underwriters of Kansas--hell, this happened in Massachusetts]. what a mess!
to top it off, my insurance company's appraiser wrote the repair up as door skins replaced. a 6 month old truck with 8000 mi. having the doors skins cut off and new ones welded on! where do they find these people? i've been in the metallurgy end of metal fab business for 30+ years and i don't consider this a good idea. i wish you better luck than i am having.

dealer damage

A dealer in Chadds Ford,PA closed a garage door on the hood of my truck. They failed to mention it to me and I noticed it right after I drove off the lot. When I confronted the manager about it, they gave me a rental car and paid for the repair. They never admitted any wrong doing and actually told me they no longer wanted my business. I called the body shop that was doing the body work and they had no problem telling me exactly what had happened to my truck. That dealership has the largest collection of dishonest people that I have ever seen in one place.

and they say that the shop is off limits for insurance reasons.... they don't want you to see what they are doing and how they are doing it to your truck.

Sad that we can't trust these dealers. When I have mine at the dealer I always position myself behind their insurance regulation sign and within clear view of the vehicle. If the view of my vehicle is blocked, I do not hesitate to go around, under or through their sign to restore the view. Never has anyone asked me to stay behind the sign, even when standing beside the vehicle on the rack.

I went to the dealer this morning and drove the truck, no mechanical damage was evident. The step bar and rocker panel underneath the drivers door is bent. The service manager is on vacation until next wed, so no decision will be made until then.I priced the Dodge aluminum steps and will speak to the sevice manager about using those as a replacement.Does anyone have the factory steps, like or dislikes?

...and I'm fighting to get my dealer to put my truck on the lift and do the pump.
Guess I should be glad they haven't dropped my truck (yet).

Yeah, sometimes you've got to wonder if it's worth having something that's not completely broke, repaired at the dealer.I have never liked having anyone work on my vehicles, but when you pay 35K for a truck, I want it to be as perfect as possible,it's a shame that they don't come from the factory in that condition.

I have the factory nerf bars they are alot stronger then some of the after market ones. They use 3 brackets that the bar sits on top of instead of the ones that just mount at the end of the tube.

I try to do all of my own work. Only go to the ******* if its a warranty job. When thay come out to get my truck I ask where they want it. So far thay have let me do all the moving. But then I'm not there much for work.
