Pulling the camper which is 16,000 lbs was a nightmare. Slowly let it out until it bucked, then just drop the clutch and roll the coals. When I pulled up that 43,000 lbs last year, it was horrible. That thing would shake and buck and the only way to get it started was to just dump it when it would start to shake. It would smoke like crazy, but it would get it started. This new clutch is SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH.

You would've liked an OFE much better...

What is your new clutch?

stock chrysler clutch that came with the G56. That old truck had the 5600 and had the clutch that was rated for 550 hp from southbend.

That is still yet to be seen. There just arn't enough out there yet. We will see once there are more high mileage trannies.

I personally like the G56 for its shifting chariteristics. I like the low gearing, each to their own.

I don't own either, but Dad has a stock 06 G56 and brother has a stock 03 5600 with 315 tires.

If you can swing it get it. Only thing that will stink is driving in stop and go traffic.

I like the G56 for the way it's designed and built internally, so I'd expect it to perform quite well over the long run.

I disagree with the traffic comment. To me, it's MUCH easier and more pleasurable to dirve a manual in traffic (especially a diesel) because you just ease the clutch out when you want to move and then push it in and pop it into N and let it sit there. I hate holding back an auto in traffic. I am biased, however. All 3 of my vehicles and 12 of my last 14 have all been manuals. I HATE AUTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a well built auto will work as well or better than a stick, ive tried them both also and i choose the auto with a good torque, by the way the auto is rated to pull more than the standard anyway who knows, around here resale value is better with an auto also.

I want a stick, no more autos...ever.

I picked up my '07 today. Very nice truck. Took some getting used to the 6sp pattern, but I got the hang of it. Not that fond of reverse at the moment....but that will come in time. All in all, the truck is impressive.

I agree w/ DWiggs. I thought it was going to be a mistake getting the manual since I have to deal w/ DC traffic 5 days a week but I actually like the manual better. Auto truck transmissions get really clunky when you are in stop and go.
