codes?
codes?
Took codes off dash with key and reset button--------A4 62
after that 00 00 so what gives. I am trying to get my 48RE shifting properly, having trouble with that. Lugs when brake is on, from stopped and in drive starts like a taller first gear. Maybe that band is over tight.
Anyone have any ideas? thanks, Brad

I have attached a link (provided by madhat) demonstrating the proper method used to check the codes.

got the p code
ok so the code does correspond with my problem
Is the trans temp sensor located as a part of the pressure governor or is it right next to it. My code indicated trans temp voltage too high.
I did over heat my transmission originally, but only for a little bit I pulled over and ran the truck in nuetral right away. The light doesnt go on now, BUT DID.
When I changed out the cooked fluid, it has never worked right at the bottom gear. So I figured I ruined the temp sensor and basically nothing else because it all works so well(except for late shift out of first and a sort of a tall first gear start when stopped in drive)
Ok does anyone know where the temp sensor is located on this stock 48re?
thank alot for all the help people have given me here I appreciate it greatly.

48re codes n stuff
ok I got this off the net
shows all the parts for the 48 RE thank god its a dodge, ford and chevy do not list the amount of codes a dodge does so to the layman tranny man a dodge is easier to pinpoint the problem.
Thanks to many of you for helping to show me where to look and how to get p codes which are for the transmission primarily. In this parts manual for the 48RE the electrical parts listed on the last 7 pages of the repair/parts manual shows the governor pressure sensor(solenoid) including the thermistor(temperature sensor) as a part of, or in with that electrical part. So if my voltage is too high according to the code, then the pressure solenoid(governor pressure sensor)stays open a bit and never closes off as it should because when it is overheated like what I had happen it will cause the resistance of the pressure solenoid to never close off all the way. That corresponds exactly to my problem where it is lugging when in drive and i got my foot on the brake. Also shifting to the upper gears taking to long to move up into another gear because the pressures are not stored up and down properly to activate all the plumbing in the valve body manifold correctly. I believe this is a good transmission, it overheated but still has all other electrical functions, sensors, valves, lights and indicators working properly.
Thanks for your help. I will replace the governor solenoid with the temp sensor and let you all know exactly what kinna foo I am. Get this, I always noticed the last year it really took awhile to put the motor power through the tranny when it was cold(just after starting the truck) so I believe this has been failing for awhile, then I cooked it. Bless you internet truck people , with your help, and some other research I even know how to install a new high performance valve body on if needed later. Blessings!
