Code P0514

Does anyone know what code P0514 means? I know it relates something to the batteries, but what? Thanks!

I get P0514 and P0513 when the outside temps drop with winter. The dealer couldn't give me a good reason for the codes and didn't find any issues with the batteries. A mystery unless someone here knows the reasons these codes get thrown.

There is a TSB for this that is done at the dealership. Had to do this on my 05 and it solved it permanently. In the interim, I used a programmer I bought at Kragen to clear the codes and then got tired of doing that.

Quick fix, free, and solves the check engine light problem!

Take care,

Ken

For some reason my fathers 03 has this same occuring code every winter. He also changed the sensor twice, still seems to come back. But my truck dosen't have any issues with this?

What TSB is out for this, do they have to flash something?

There is a flash for this issue,it is a rationality code-there rationale was incorrect the tsb# is 18-022-07 It applies to 03-05 trucks1. Improved engine cooling (radiator fan activation) and prevention of possible engine
overheat. When coolant temperature faults are present the radiator fan is enabled
(turned on) during vehicle operation.
2. Correction to oil pressure reading when engine is operating at higher engine
temperatures above 91°C (195°F).
3. Improvement to the Temperature Sensor Rationality Test to prevent possible false test
failures and the following related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's):
a. DTC P0071 - Inlet Air Temperature Sensor Rationality.
b. DTC P0111 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Rationality.
c. DTC P0514 - Battery Temperature Sensor Rationality.
4. Additional Water-In-Fuel (WIF) warning added to indicate that the operator has had a
WIF DTC P2269 and has continued to operate (drive) the vehicle in excess of 500
miles without draining the water from the fuel filter. The following is the new WIF DTC
that has been added:
a. DTC P0169 - WIF Too Long Error
