clean engine?

after you get your engine all dirty, how do you go about cleaning them out? I have heard many theories, want to get some opinions on this.

Outside or do you mean a motor flush?

Outside I use Purple Power just cover the air filter up,if you got the after market kind.

As far as a motor flush don't know,I would be worryed about stuff gunking up the injectors or something with my luck.

If your meaning outside, Simplegreen works great.... not as harsh as other chemicals...

Simple Green works great. I have also used Engine Bright, made my engine look like it was brand new.

the way it was explained to me was, you can spray the simple green on, let it sit, and then either take a pressure washer and stand back with it, or just use a normal hose, does that work pretty well?

I would stay away from spraying water all over the engine because of the electrical system. I Use WD40 and a clean rag took less than a 1/2 hour and looked nice and clean. Simple green would do it too.

I don't use a pressure washer just a hose. With engine bright you spray it on, wait, and rinse if off. It's a good idea to protect the electrical stuff as best you can. Pressure washers are just too much.

I used some purple power degreaser, sprayed it on one side of the engine, let it sit for a few minutes, then spray it off with a garden hose. Then I went over it with a rag and got all the extra water off. I covered up my edge, and any exposed wires with a rag. I did a little at a time, so as not to have Noah's ark under my hood.

I have never had a problem soaking the engine with Engine bright etc... I don't directly spray the water on the electircal but if it gets wet I have never had a problem. For me, I do it when the engine is WARM, not hot... That way when I am done all the water evaporates before I start it...

Just a simple little tip if you wish your engine bay to look better than new....
Clean motor and blow as dry as possible with air or if you're patient just wait, and when dry use a tire shine that drys (some are silicon and do not dry) and spray all... It will make it jump. The hoses will shine, all black parts will look like new. Try it. You will be surprised. (Stuff also works well on inner fender panels)

I just grab the hose and squirt it off. If I have a stubborn spot where fluid has mixed with dirt a little Simple Green usually takes it off. I don't cover anything either.
