Check Engine Light

I just had my check engine light come on at exactly 7000 miles. Thought it was a weird coincidence. Anyone else had a similar problem. I just took it in to the dealer. We'll see what they say tomorrow.

Mine had a check engine light and a code 0191 the first week I owned it. My truck takes a lot longer to crank and get started compared to my 2002. I was trying to start it and it didn't start before I released the key. I turned the key back to start instead of shutting it off and going through the cycle again. When it started puff of white smoke, and the light came on instantly. I unhooked the batteries and turned the key and headlamp switch on. No more check engine light, and now I wait till it starts!

I didn't check for codes. I don't have a scantool yet. The dealer repalced the battery temp sensor and the check engine light is off now. I'm not sure why I need a battery temp sensor but I guess I'll take their word for it for now.

One good thing from this...they recalibrated my speedo for free for my bigger tires since I had to bring it in. Also I'm getting 1 or 2 MPG better with the 35" tires. Bad part is they rub the fenders. I'm working on that tomorrow.

On my 03 the check gauges and/or check engine light comes on for a spit second from time to time every few months. Another factory feature. Spoke to the DC shop forman last time I was there a month ago and he said that they're still working on it and not to sweat it.

There is a TSB for the "Intermittant Flashing of the Check Gauges Indicator"
it is TSB Number 08-004-03 Dated March 14, 2003.

Had mine reflashed and it fixed the problem, you Dealer should have been able to find the TSB unless you were there more than an year ago ?
