Help, my truck turned on the check engine light this morning. I have tried to find the details of how to read the error codes and have been unsuccessful. Would someone please tell me the details of the key trick to see the codes.

I am a bit reluctant to drive the truck with the light on. My truck should be in the signature block, but if not, I have a 2006 quad cab 2 wheel drive 5.9 Cummins diesel with automatic transmission. It has just over 18000 miles .

I don't believe on our 06 models the codes can be read using the key trick. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong.

 

Thanks, I finally found the info. When I got the code, there was only the ----- then done. Not much help. I will see Autozone today and maybe the dealer on Monday. Thanks for your help. Carlton

 

The key trick does work on the 06's and some CEL's clear them selves after a few starts.

 

Go to your auto parts store and they will be able to read the codes if you can't. Geno's has a full listing, and if you search here you will be able to have the code explained and how to deal with it.

 

The check engine light came on and the code was z121, not p. Any thoughts? Mike
